Cole
and Son – Frontier Collection
Frontier the latest collection from Cole and Son follows
on from the New Contemporary series. This collection
depicts an era of travel and discovery, in particular
the culture, imagery and themes of Colonialism and the
Far East.
Stepping away from the usual Cole &
Son colour palette the Frontier collection includes
smaller complementary patterns to coordinate with the
large scale designs, creating a contemporary collection.
Gondola (above left)
– evocative of a romantic Japanese journey, this
oriental design is available in three vivid colourways:
charcoal and gold, deep purple and fuchsia, teal and
amber.
Great Wave (above centre)
– a dramatic four colour design, unaltered from
the 19th century original in the Cole & Son archive.
Rendered in black and white, bleached neutrals and washed-out
blues.
Geisha (above right)
– an oriental landscape with a contemplative woman
standing at the water’s edge. The clever design
incorporating warm colours can be interpreted as sunrise
or sunset.
Cocoa (above left) –
this life-size design of the Cocoa plant can be used
for a striking feature wall or incorporated with the
'Stipple' paper, to decorate an entire room.
Tropical Birds (above
centre) – these exotic birds are from an original
1950's design by Una Lindsey, the same designer who
created the classic Malabar. Printed in a range of colours
– from off white on a putty background to striking
emerald green, the design works beautifully with Feather
Fan to enhance the detail within the birds.
Water Lily (above right)
– a bold contemporary design, giving reference
to the giant lily pads. Available in three colourways:
white on white, gold on brown and off white and black.
