Archive Traditional Collection Spring 2010
Cole & Son’s latest release, the Archive Traditional
collection features 12 stylish and unique designs from
its prestigious archive.
The designs are based on the collection
started by Cole & Son founder John Perry, with some
of the first patterns dating back to 1873. This valuable
and historic archive of wallpaper designs now holds
approximately 1,800 block print designs, 350 screenprint
designs and a large quantity of original drawings and
wallpapers representing styles from the 18th century
onwards.
The Archive Traditional collection features
12 designs and one texture incorporating not only designs
that are well known, but also a selection that have
not seen the light of day for many decades.
Examples include the Ludlow
(above left) an 18th century design from a fabric created
for the Williamsburg Colony. Both graceful and flowing
on the wall it is now produced as a screen print in
five colourways.
Another stylish design is the Hartford
(above middle) Never before printed by Cole & Son,
this four colour surface print reveals weaving spays
of stylised flowers. Available in three colourways this
is perfect for creating a striking feature wall.
One of the most popular of Coles designs,
Dorset
(above right) is a classical, restrained and light design
in six colourways.
This collection will be released into
the New Zealand market in mid April.
